Scientific Name: Platycercus Elegans
Crimson rosellas are very common and can be found in forests throughout eastern and southern Australia. These beautiful and noisy birds grow up to about 35 cm long. It is commonly found in, but not restricted to, mountain forests and gardens.
Almost all rosellas are sedentary, although occasional populations are considered nomadic; no rosellas are migratory. Outside of the breeding season, crimson rosellas tend to congregate in pairs or small groups and feeding parties.
The Crimson Rosella is for instance known to live in pairs or small groups and feeding parties outside the breeding season and will therefore appreciate company in captivity as well. Juveniles form their own flocks, sometimes consisting of up to 20 individuals.
